英語:

As Romans were inflicting a war onto the Albans, and each of the two were leading their men into the line of battle, an ambassador whom the Albans had sent forth, he proposed a congerence between the leaders. An Alban guy, who when they gathered, he said, “The cause of this war is not really the thing which was tolen, it which you, Tullus, bear before yourself. If true, these words are not only beautiful to say, it will have been said, desire of power incited the two related and neighboring people to arm. The fight is being fought about the following , which of us will serve which of us. If we have found some other adjudication without a battle, will we spare our men who will otherwise go to meet death”

This thing is pleasing to Tullus, however he is desirous of war, both in his mind and in his hope for victory. Then, ehterfore, a methode is entered and for which even Fortune itself offered the oppurtunit. By chance in each army of the two, there are triplet brothers, unequal neither in age nor in strength, one of whom is called Horatii, the other is called Curiatii, the later Alban, the former Roman. Pact is entered into these terms: the triplets will fight with swords, each one for their own country, and there will be the right to command from where victory will have been, and the citizen of whatever population who won in this struggle, will command the other population with good peace.

The two armies on both sides seat before the camp, on the ground. Then the triplets each of them take arms and they preceed to the middle space between the two lines. Then when the signal was given, three sets of young men draw their swords and they run together to giht. The first race, two Horatii meet death, one of the two fell over the other, at whose fall the Albans were shouting together with great joy. By chance the third Horatii was unharmed, as alone by to means equal to them all together, he is gercious against indiciduals. However wounds had been inflicted on the three Curiatii, by means of which they were made slow. Therefore, he puts himself to flight, and so in this way he separated them just as each one suffers from a wound. He had already fled some amount of space fromt he place where the battle was fought, when he looked back and saw by which the enemies are coming at great intervals, one of whom threatening him. He turned to him with a great attack and overcame him, and as the winner, he immediately was seeking a second battle. As the third Curiatii was bringing help to his brother–he was not far away–and he (Horatii) finished the the second. The third one survived, but he bearly drags his body, tired from running, tired from the wound, therefore the watr was not fought long. Horatii kills that guy and he brought victory.

He brought back the things of his brothers and the sister who was at heart of a Curatii. When she saw the clothing of one of the brothers, her fiancé, which she made herself, she untied her hair and called her dead fiancé by name. Moved by anger, Horatii drew his sword and killed th sister. “Go away with your immature love to your fiancé,” he said, “dismembered of the dead and living, dismembered of your country.”
